Did you know that the word chalice comes from the Latin calix meaning glass, cup, cup?
An everyday object therefore, but not that, used by Jesus during the Last Supper, the liturgical chalice is the sacred vessel dedicated to containing the wine which becomes the Blood of Christ during the Eucharistic celebration.
The Chalice is therefore the symbol of communion between God and men.
