LASSERRE rare 2-sided medal Joan of Arc Reims
Spectacular old pendant medal in solid 18-carat (750 thousandths) yellow gold, eagle's head hallmark. French Art Nouveau work from the beginning of the XNUMXth century signed 'P. LASSERRE’ and ‘CP’. It is engraved on both sides.
On the obverse is Joan of Arc in armor on horseback, holding her miraculous sword in her hand in front of the square of the church of Reims, finely represented with its columns and its saints in the lower part.
On the reverse of the medal, the church of Reims is represented with the inscription "REIMS 1914 1915 LE SACRILEGE". This representation refers to the coronation of Charles VII, King of France, in Reims in 1429.
The medal is signed by the engraver Firmin Pierre Lasserre, sculptor born in Barraute on July 6, 1870, died in 1943, who exhibited at the Salon of French Artists and obtained bronze medals in 1921, silver in 1923 and gold in 1927 He was made a knight of the Legion of Honor.
