The dove scepter, this royal staff is made of gold and enamel and is placed in the sovereign's left hand. It features a dove with outstretched wings, which symbolizes the Holy Spirit and reminds the king of his duties of fairness and mercy. The scepter, meanwhile, is surmounted by a cross and set with the largest diamond in the world, the Cullinan I, which weighs 530 carats. It is slipped into the sovereign's right hand as a sign of authority and good governance. The golden ball located on the scepter is an object that evokes the earth divided into three continents by bands in precious stones. This sphere is surmounted by a cross placed on a amethyst.
