Tourmaline: Birthstone for October

58 facettes

La tourmaline is associated with the month of October, just like the Opal. and still remains in our trends even in 2022!

Tourmaline History and Symbols

The name of this semi-precious stone comes from Sri Lanka, a legend says that tourmaline would have descended from heaven to Earth. During its descent, it would have crossed or slid on a rainbow which would have given it its infinite variations of color. Hence its name meaning "the stone of a thousand colors". Tourmaline has been known since the XNUMXrd century BC but it has often been confused with other minerals due to its wide variety of colors. This is why there are few stories, legends or beliefs liées with Tourmaline. Its late identification therefore makes it almost a recent stone with a relatively short history.

This stone is considered a stone of awakening and resolution, it encourages compassion and wisdom, it soothes the emotions and maintains a state of serenity.

Tourmaline and its wide variety of colors
