Jade: a source of peace

Two types of jade exist, two different minerals: Nephrite Jade (composed of calcium and magnesium silicate) with colors that can vary between shades of green, white, pink and blue-green. Jadeite jade (composed of sodium and aluminum silicate) has shades between dark olive green, creamy white, brown or even black. Jade stone is known for its virtues and benefits, in particular for strengthening the immune system, for reducing emotional instability or even for avoiding migraines and accelerating healing.

During prehistory, Jade was used in the manufacture of weapons because the stone was hard and had a high resistance to shock. Traditional Chinese healers then used it for its healing properties. Symbol of eternal life, it was also introduced into the worship of the gods, cut and sculpted in order to fight against demons. A statuette was placed above the deceased to accompany them to the afterlife. Today, only China still works the stone with a know-how that follows ancient techniques thus creating true works of art. Jade stone deposits are mainly found in China, Russia, Canada and New Zealand.
