Sapphire is the birthstone for September! This exceptional stone conceals many peculiarities and remarkable facts:

1/ The hardest stone after the diamond

On the Mohs scale, sapphire has a hardness of 9, just below diamond. This means that in practice only other stones of the same family and the diamond can scratch it. A longevity thus guaranteed!

2/ The sapphire is not only blue!


Yes if you only mention "sapphire", it means by default that it is a blue sapphire. But the colors of sapphires are multiple: yellow, green, orange, pink, purple... all the colors of the rainbow!

3/ A red sapphire... is a ruby!
