CHARLES
In 18K embossed yellow gold, decorated with foliage and openwork foliage, centered with a large, slightly domed and faceted amethyst weighing approximately 12 cts. It is embellished with oval-cut aquamarines and pink kunzites. And it holds as a pendant, a removable tassel finished with a faceted citrine cut into an arrowhead.
Charles X period, between 1819 and 1838 (ram's head hallmark).
French work.
Dimensions of the amethyst: approximately 16,2 x 12,8 x 8,6 mm.
Brooch dimensions: 4,7 x 7 cm approx.
Weight: 13,8 g (18k – 750/1000 – ram's head on the upper ring, eagle heads on the pin, the hook of the pin and the tassel with citrine).
Condition: Brooch in very good condition, whose current form has evolved over time. The main body of the brooch, adorned with an amethyst, is undoubtedly the oldest part of the jewelry. The ring located at its top bears a hallmark in the shape of a ram's head, used only between 1819 and 1838, which allows the brooch to be dated to this period. This ring was probably used to suspend it as a pendant or to attach it to a larger piece of jewelry.
In the lower part of the reverse, we notice five hooks intended to hold five tassels. The current tassel is probably not original, just like the brooch pin, because these two elements bear an eagle's head hallmark (used from 1847) and have a different color of gold. Two small shocks should be noted on the citrine. Amethyst is a very beautiful, intense and homogeneous purple color. This is a very good quality stone.
