Rare old two-sided round medal pendant in solid 18-carat (750 thousandths) yellow gold, eagle's head guarantee hallmark and master goldsmith's diamond hallmark. French work from the beginning of the 1910th century around 1871, signed BECKER. Edmond Becker (1971-XNUMX) is a famous French sculptor, medalist, goldsmith and jeweler, rewarded numerous times for his know-how due to the finesse and quality of each of his creations.
On the obverse, the pendant presents the face in profile of a helmeted viking, finely chiseled, with precise details such as the dragon at the top. On the reverse, there is a decoration of a flame, an olifant and an oak branch with leaves and acorns, surmounted by the inscription “SIGURD”.
Sigurd Serpenteye is a son of the legendary Ragnar Lodbrók and one of his wives, Aslaug. He would have been born with the image of a snake or dragon biting its tail, surrounding the pupil of his right eye.
