The “4C” rule:
The graduation and the price of the brilliant are governed by 4 evaluation criteria: the weight (Carat), the size (Cut), the purity (Clarity), and the color (Colour).
- The first C (CARAT): the weight, is expressed in carats (1 carat = 0.2 grams).
- The second C (CLARITY - PURITY): indicates the degree of purity, judged according to the presence or absence of internal and external characteristics. The best of the qualities is called "pure with a magnifying glass", which means that there is no inclusion when looking with a magnifying glass (10x).
- The third C (COLOUR): they are classified on a scale of 23 shades, ranging from icy white "D" (colorless), to warm tones "Z" (tinted white). It exists in all colors but some colors are considered exceptional such as red, blue and pink.
- The fourth C (CUT - THE SIZE): the size is very important for the brilliance of the stone. Cut consists of three distinct parameters: proportions, symmetry and polish.
