Gold cross and diamonds in 18-karat pink gold (750 thousandths). Large cross with openwork floral decoration. A flower made of rose-cut diamonds blooms in the center of the religious pendant. The diamonds form the petals and the center of the flower, they are set in silver. The bail is later than the cross, it is richly decorated and adorned with a rose-cut diamond set with claws. Early 20th century pendant probably from the region of Provence, France
Hallmark unreadable, acid tested for 18 karat gold.
Dimensions (including bail): 6 cm x 3 cm
Total diamond weight: 0,09 carat
Condition: slight dents, the bail is slightly more pinkish than the cross.
Weight: 4,31 gr.
Historical point: this cross could be what is called the "Mistralian" cross, created towards the end of the 1830th century during the revival of Provençal pride inspired by the "Félibrige", a regionalist association founded by Frédéric Mistral (1914- XNUMX). Mistral is a defender of the Provençal language and literature. These crosses are mainly made of openwork gold and set with rose-cut diamonds or sometimes pearls.
