Peridot, a stone that has its effect

Peridot is a stone composed mainly of magnesium, iron and silica. It retains its green color thanks to the more or less significant presence of Nickel or Chrome. This stone has often been confused with emerald due to its similar color even though peridot has a softer color. Peridot is a symbol of wisdom, it protects against demons and madness. It is known to protect against external influences, to promote mental health as well as to restore balance to the heart and good blood circulation. It is considered the stone of well-being.

Regarding its history, peridot becomes popular from the first millennium BC in Zabargad, an island off the Egyptian coast. The stone was considered a symbol of the sun. The mineral arrives in Europe thanks to the Crusaders. Peridot was therefore used to adorn the beautiful sacred objects such as those of the treasury of the Three Kings which is in the cathedral of Cologne. It then became very popular in Europe during the Baroque era (XNUMXth century) and continued to be worked in jewelry during the Victorian era, then later in Art Nouveau jewelry. Today, the main producer of natural peridot is in San Carlos in the United States. It manufactures 90% of the world's production there. However, the brightest and clearest peridots originate from the region of Kashmir. One can also find deposits in many countries such as Myanmar, Vietnam or Pakistan. Finally, we also say that the peridot has extraterrestrial origins, indeed the stone is present in the form of meteorites in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
